To quickly review, Hasbro filed the lawsuit first upon word thatSweetpea -- producer of a 2000 D&D film -- was working with Warner Bros. on another D&D movie based on Chainmail, aboard game from Dungeons & Dragons designer Gary Gygax. In response, Sweetpea brought counterclaims, arguing that it still retained rights from a 1994 deal and that Hasbro couldn't license Universal Pictures to make a D&D film. In August, a judge denied Sweetpea's summary judgment motion, saying it was "premature" to settle the score at an early juncture.

Jennifer Lawrence continues to smolder.  The star of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire andAmerican Hustle (out Dec. 20) will top IMDb's list of the Top 100 Stars of the Year when the film/TV website releases its annual survey Tuesday.  The survey, based on stars' page views, finds that:

No actor comes close to Lawrence's popularity — she received 89% more page views than runner-up Chloë Grace Moretz (Carrie).

Television is yielding hotter faces than ever, contributing six of the 10 fastest-rising stars in the survey.

Pitch Perfect continues to resonate with viewers, even though the musical film left theaters last year.

The Black List unveiled its annual list of Hollywood’s favorite unproduced screenplays on Monday, selecting 72 scripts based on votes by more than 250 executives.  It began revelaing the names one-by-one using its Twitter account, which primed the list’s avid followers with a series of informational tweets in the hours leading up to the reveal. The tweets began at 10 a.m. PST.

(Reuters) - Hollywood producers Harvey and Bob Weinstein announced a multi-year deal to jointly make films, TV shows, and live stage shows with Miramax, the Oscar-winning film studio they started in 1979 and left in 2005.  In a joint announcement, Miramax and The Weinstein Company said they would make films and TV shows based on Miramax's library of more than 700 films that include "Shakespeare in Love," "Good Will Hunting" and "The English Patient."

“Divergent” director Neil Burger will not helm “Insurgent,” the second title in Lionsgate’s upcoming young-adult franchise, and the studio has set the sequel for a March 20, 2015, release.  Burger is currently in post-production for “Divergent,” starring Shailene Woodley, for a March 21, 2014, release and Lionsgate is currently seeking another director for “Insurgent.”
