Rachel McAdams is in negotiations to join Keanu Reeves in the sci-fi drama “Passengers,” sources confirm. The Weinstein Company recently acquired rights to the long-gestating project at Cannes. Brian Kirk, whose TV credits include “Game Of Thrones” and “Boardwalk Empire,” is attached to direct in what will be his feature debut. Wayfare Entertainment is financing and producing the pic from a script by Jon Spaihts. “Passengers” is set in the future on a spacecraft with thousands of passengers making an interstellar voyage to a new planet with a single passenger (Reeves) awakening from cryogenic sleep 90 years before anyone else. He then awakens a beautiful woman, played by McAdams.
