Sigourney Weaver has joined the cast of Sony and MRC’s “Chappie,” directed by Neill Blomkamp. Story follows a robot named Chappie who is kidnapped by two criminals and becomes the adopted son of a very strange and dysfunctional family. Sharlto Copley stars as the voice of Chappie. Hugh Jackman and Dev Patel also star. Production is currently underway. “Chappie” will be co-produced and co-financed by Sony Pictures and MRC; the film will be marketed and distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures. The UTA-repped Weaver is currently shooting the Fox pic “Exodus.”
