CBS Films acquired U.S. rights to “The F Word,” which also stars Zoe Kazan, for $2.5 million at Toronto with plans for a 2014 release. Entertainment One is selling foreign rights at AFM. The Weinstein Co. is releasing “Long Walk to Freedom” in the U.S. on Nov. 29, while Pathe is selling international markets. “McCanick,” the last film to star Monteith, is for sale in international markets though Bleiberg Entertainment. Well Go USA bought the U.S. rights at Toronto. Other titles showing at AFM for buyers include Gia Coppola’s “Palo Alto,” starring Emma Roberts, James Franco and Val Kilmer; “Philomena,” starring Judi Dench and Steve Coogan; “Love Punch,” starring Pierce Brosnan and Emma Thompson; the documentary “Made in America,” directed by Ron Howard, starring Jay Z and Kanye West; “Night Moves,” starring Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard; “Two Night Stand,” starring Miles Teller, Analeigh Lipton and Jessica Szohr; and “Joe,” starring Nicolas Cage and Tye Sheridan. The market, now in its 33rd year, is set to remain in Santa Monica through 2017. The Independent Film and Television Alliance spurned efforts in 2011 to move downtown, opting to stay at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, its home since 1991, with the confab continuing to employ additional exhibition space at JW Marriott’s Le Merigot Beach Hotel and with conferences continuing at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel.
