Flint Film Festival showcases nearly 40 films for 10th anniversary | MLive.com

FLINT, MI--This weekend, more than three dozen indie films were showcased in downtown Flint for movie lovers in Genesee County.  On Friday and Saturday, the Riverfront Banquet Center hosted the 10th Annual Flint Film Festival, showcasing a variety of 38 long, short, fictional, documentary, and animated indie films.  Eric Thomas, president of the festival, got involved near the end of its first year after getting excited as an attendee. He said a couple filmmakers came up with the idea to showcase other quality indie films, and to bring something good to the city.  The festival is run by volunteers, and is funded by the CS Mott Foundation as an event of the Greater Flint Arts Council's Parade of Festivals. Flint Farmers Market and Flint Public Art Project provided PA systems for the festival.  This year, the film's selection committee sifted through some 130 submissions before whittling it down to 38 documentaries, features, shorts, and other types of films.
