Russell Crowe is heading to New York to play the lead in Voltage Prods.’ drama “Fathers and Daughters,” directed by Gabriele Muccino.
Besides Voltage, production companies are Busted Shark Prods., Fear of God Films and Leone Films. Producers are Craig J. Flores and Nicolas Chartier of Voltage and Sherryl Clark of Busted Shark.
Crowe and Keith Rodger will also exec produce via their Fear of God production shingle along with Romilda De Luca. AndreaLeone Films will also co-produce and handle Italian distribution rights.
“Fathers and Daughters,” a Blacklist script penned by Brad Desch, is a love story between a father and daughter living in New York City 25 years apart. Crowe will portray a famous novelist and widower struggling with mental illness as he tries to raise his 5-year-old daughter; the story will also focus on the 30-year-old daughter’s life in present-day Manhattan where she battles the aftermath of her troubled childhood.
