BSM Studio venture to fund three to five films per year

Backup Media, Marie Savare Partner to Launch BSM Studio (EXCLUSIVE) | Variety

Backup Media has joined forces with Maje Production’s Marie Savare to launch BSM Studio as a one-stop financing shop.  The venture, unveiled during the American Film Market, has already backed a pair of projects: “Still Alice,” starring Julianne Moore in an adaptation of Lisa Genova’s novel to be directed by Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland; and Jim Mickle’s completed “Cold in July,” starring Michael C. Hall, Sam Shepard and Don Johnson.
The aim of the new financing venture is to merge the resources and skills of both partners, along with fully financing three to five international projects per year, with budgets ranging from $2 million to $12 million.  “We make a really great team,” Savare said. “The combination of our experiences are a perfect match. With Backup Media’s expertise, having financed an array of critically acclaimed and commercially successful movies, and with my own practice we will be able to fully benefit and capitalize on our respective accomplishments.”
