Wesley and Marla Strick met in New York City in 1978 and married seven years later, after moving to Los Angeles. He wrote the screenplays for Martin Scorsese’s 1991 version of “Cape Fear” and the 2010 remake of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” (with Eric Heisserer) and is a creative adviser for the Sundance Institute. She has worked as a political volunteer, most recently for Eric Garcetti in the 2013 Los Angeles mayoral race and before that, for President Obama’s two campaigns. They have two adult sons. A condensed and edited version of our conversation follows.
