‘La Vida Robot’ reels in Marisa Tomei

Marisa Tomei Joins George Lopez In ‘La Vida Robot’ | Variety

Pantelion Films has cast Marisa Tomei to star in inspirational drama “La Vida Robot” opposite George Lopez, with shooting starting in New Mexico.  Sean McNamara is directing. Lopez is producing through his Travieso Productions with David Alpert through Circle of Confusion along with Rick Jacobs, Leslie Kolins Smith and Ben Odell.
The film is based on a true story about four undocumented Mexican-American teenagers from Phoenix who team to build an underwater robot that wins the national robotics competition. Tomei will portray a teacher whose belief in the rag tag team helps lead them to success.  Pantelion is a film venture between Lionsgate and Televisa. Its “Instructions Not Included” has been a solid success with $44 million in domestic grosses — eclipsing “Pan’s Labyrinth” as the top Spanish-language grosser in the U.S.  “La Vida Robot” is  the first film under Lopez’s recently announced overall film and TV deal with Pantelion and South Shore, the TV venture between Lionsgate and Televisa.
